Polypipe to lead discussion on the Future of Water

Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation will be joining forces with New Civil Engineer (NCE) magazine this autumn to explore critical issues surrounding the future of water in the UK.
During the event on 7 September 2021, Polypipe will be contributing to discussions on key topics such as whether 2020 Sewerage Sector Guidance (SSG) has had the desired impact since its launch.
Jon Stewart, business development director – drainage; Richard Eddy, category manager – underground and utilities; and Charlotte Markey, green urbanisation innovation manager, will join other industry representatives from organisations including WSP, United Utilities and Atkins to explore potential barriers to the successful adoption of the legislation and how stipulations in the SSG can be used to drive a more holistic approach to water management.
Speaking ahead of the Future of Water event, Jon Stewart said: “The SSG guidelines and their clarity of the use of thermoplastic piping and broader use of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) bring a wealth of benefits and possibilities for our industry. But as yet, these benefits are only being realised by the minority. Through this discussion, we hope to raise awareness of these opportunities and understand the wider challenges the sector faces to taking a more sustainable, holistic and positive approach to how we manage water in the UK.”
