Polypipe takes to the road for sixth annual charity race in a bid to raise £100,000 for Prostate Cancer UK

Thursday 8th June 2017

A team of senior staff from Polypipe’s Loughborough office will take to the road as part of the sixth annual Keyline Rally, aiming to raise £100,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

Polypipe’s Steve Smith – Power Sector Manager, and Phil Rotheram – Business Development Director, will be driving an impressive 3,218 miles, starting their engines in the UK before racing around the Pyrenees, heading down to the Costa Brava, and driving back through France, via Millau, to Calais. The event, organised by Keyline and involving various teams made up of customers and suppliers from within the construction industry, takes place from 22 June to 2 July 2017.

This year’s rally has seen Polypipe’s new Mercedes CLK transformed into a Star Wars themed car, which will be joined by other science fiction themed vehicles in the race to the finish line in Calais, France. In previous years, Polypipe has joined the race behind the wheel of several impressive car creations, including the Batmobile, the Mean Machine, and even a Shrek the Musical car.

Throughout the gruelling rally challenge, Polypipe’s green cycling team will also be supporting the fundraising efforts of the Star Wars car, this time on two wheels, by completing a five-day cycling endurance challenge.  Directors and Senior Management Glen Sabin, Steve Kite, Andy Cullum, John Moss and Sean Robinson will be cycling an impressive 200km to raise additional funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Rosie Cheetham, Marketing Consultant at Polypipe, said: “We have been part of the Keyline Rally for the past five years, driving and cycling across Europe for charity. The car will see some miles added to the clock, but it’s for a brilliant cause and we are proud to be supporting Keyline and Prostate Cancer UK for another year. We’d also like to give a huge thank you to all our sponsors including: SLG Marketing Ltd, Lighthouse UK, EPG Ltd, Keytec Geomembranes, GWA & Co and Circuit Hospitality.”

James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We are extremely grateful for Polypipe’s support in the fight against prostate cancer. The money they raise will help us move closer to our goal of taming prostate cancer within the next 10 years, making it a disease which men no longer need to fear.  We wish them the very best of luck in their challenge.”
