As Terri Williams, our PA to the Directors celebrates 15 years at Polypipe Civils, we get to know 15 things about her. Read this fun, quick interview to get to know her favourite part about Polypipe, the time she wakes up to how she would describe herself.
What time did you wake up this morning?
12.30am, 2.30am, 4.30am and then got up at 6.20am. I’m a terrible sleeper!
What is your favourite part about Polypipe?
The people – I’ve met some fantastic people over the years.
What’s an item in your office that you’ve had the longest?
A good luck charm from one of our previous cleaners, we still keep in contact and I even went to her wedding!
What is one of the products at Polypipe that doesn’t get enough recognition?
Ridgicoil, it’s used for many different types of cable protection and can frequently be seen on road jobs.
If you had to work in another department, which one would you choose?
Probably reception or marketing.
Why?
Reception – because I find people so interesting and marketing – because I like design. I always wanted to be an interior designer but it was very difficult to get into that field years ago.
Since starting work at Polypipe, did you think you’d end up doing what you do now?
I’m still doing the same job I came to do 15 years ago but it has lots more elements to it now. I now cover some HR admin work and deal with some of the site contracts. It’s such a varied role and every day is different.
How long does it take you to get to work?
On a good day about 30 minutes.
How would people describe you?
A good listener, reliable, honest and trustworthy.
How would you describe yourself?
Organised, sensitive, thoughtful and a food snob!
What’s something that isn’t around anymore that you’d bring back?
The Ford Capri – it was my dream car.
What’s been your biggest achievement?
From a work point of view, a few years ago I did a presentation in front of a dozen other employees. I’m naturally quite a shy person in groups so it took a lot for me to do it and it really boosted my confidence.
What do you do when you first start working?
If Grant, the Sales Order Manager, hasn’t put my heater on (which he usually has or he’s in trouble!), then I’ll turn that on.
What’s something everyone should know about Polypipe?
How many different companies there are within the Group – people are often surprised when I tell them we have offices in Europe and the Middle East.
Would you do it all again?
Yes, without a doubt. (unless of course I win the lottery!)
